Rendering

A client was building an addition on a stone cottage they purchased to rehab. Drawings of the proposed garage with living space above needed to be submitted to the town’s planning commission before any work could begin. Using the hand-drawn elevations I created a perspective rendering to illustrate the finished structure. It was important to show how the addition would fit both the style of the existing house, but also with the neighborhood.

I did some similar work for property sales sheets at Colliers, but a perspective rendering was a new one. I’d never even used the perspective grid tool in Illustrator, but I learned how to make it work. I combined photos, textures, and colors for a stylized rendering the client was happy with. Not to mention the planning commission:

“Got approval for our home last night. The city plan review board LOVED your rendering.  One member asked if she could keep her copy.”
