Healthy Recipes

Recipes_cover

This recipe book includes submissions by my colleagues for healthy food. I decided to go retro-camp with the design and included clip art and some of the most humorously unappetizing recipes from days gone by. Vintage wallpaper and material patterns serve as backgrounds for the imagery. Enjoy a Frankaroni Loaf at your next family meal!

Award Logo

logo_W

A cut crystal bowl and financial grant serve annually to recognize Leaders in Health in honor of the late Dr. Walentik. This “W” design was proposed as the award’s identity, combining the initial letter W and the characteristics of the bowl’s cut glass patterns. Are your socks blown off yet? Mine neither, but it was a real task to translate a simple pencil sketch into a vector image that would actually work in different media. Even though my other design was selected, I enjoy the Escher-esque optical illusion when tracing my eye through this shape.

Scooter Forum Identity

You know how it is. A friend asks if you can design a new logo for the St. Louis Scooter Forum and you think “well sure, why not?” So you do.

This graphic incorporates some very basic elements: the flag of St. Louis of course; a scooter that is sort of a hybrid of vintage and contemporary styles; a little bit of Lambretta and a dash of Vespa.

Understanding Medicare

medicare_cover

Understanding Medicare is a new series of health policy reports that serves as a companion piece to MFH’s “Medicaid Basics” series. The report required a modular page layout that would remain flexible to content and data updated on an annual basis.

Health Equity Report

A recent addition to a series of MFH reports that identifies health disparities among target populations. These data-heavy reports require clean page layout and the creation of clear graphs and graphics to provide insight in an approachable format.

Gesundheit

Besides various committee and board positions over the years, my primary role within the St. Louis chapter of the BMW Car Club of America was as editor and art director of the quarterly newsletter. You can find more PDFs of issues I worked on from the spring of 2003 through the fall of 2009 by visiting the newsletter archives at http://www.stlbmwcca.org/wordpress/gesundheit/

Strategy Report

MFH_strategy_cover

A decade after its formation the Missouri Foundation for Health developed a new strategy for grantmaking. Self-evaluation of lessons learned and new leadership fueled the impetus to change, but it was also necessary to reaffirm the foundations goals with the partners and relationships already in place. This website guides viewers through MFH’s journey through reflection on the past, development of a new strategy, and the future impact of the foundation’s work to improve the health of Missourians.

Funding Brochure

MFH_program_funding_brochure_cover

This Funding Programs brochure was used to introduce potential grantees to the health issues MFH was targeting for 2011. The inside back cover also serves as a pocket folder for tailoring this general information with additional fact sheets and hand outs for specific audiences.

i2i Logo

logo_i2i

Reinsurance Group of America Technology Partners is an internal department focused on the application of web and software based applications to develop and enhance the underwriting capabilities of clients. For a service called The Insurance-to-Institution Solution, I designed the i2i logo to reference the familiar concept of “business-to-business” and to create a mnemonic typographic solution. It uses the three colors of the RTP group and the number two physically traces a path from “i to i.”
